Shameless

She had lived with the shame. She had spent all she had. She had consulted every expert she could, and now she was broke and broken. Answerless. Rejected. For 12 incredible years.

She knew the pointed and specific words of Leviticus 15:25 that declared that

“all of the days that she bleeds, she shall be unclean.”

So while she was drowning in the deep end of her shame, embarrassment, pain, and frustration, she’s declared unclean as well.

She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” ~ Mark 5:27, 28

Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God is touched by a woman that the law declared as unclean. In an instance, a life-changing, healing, transformational moment, Jesus douses the flames of judgment with the fount of grace.

And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. ~ Mark 5:29

Healed. Whole.

In a moment, in a crowd, the secret, the dark unclean pain of her soul explodes in disclosure and healing, in an instantaneous crescendo from disgrace to significance.

And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” ~ Mark 5:34

She had heard reports about Jesus. She believed that He was the answer to a twelve-year-old story problem.

No secret. No hidden pain. No force of judgment can stand against His grace.

Secrets exposed, faith demonstrated, healing received. Jesus.

Bring it to Him. Your secret. Your pain. Touch Him.

Go in peace and be healed of your disease.
