Moses my servant is dead…" (Joshua 1:2)
That’s right Joshua. The baton is now firmly in your hand. The Promised Land is in front of you and the emergency brake that I locked in place for Moses has been released. The expansive resources of this land are now available… to you… to my people.
"Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses." (Joshua 1:3)
That’s right Joshua. You’re the guy. You’re my guy. I want you to step out. To march forward into the uncertainty with the confidence that "every place" is yours. It’s yours because it’s mine. The fire that I ignited in your soul when you first scouted the land can now be fanned into a blaze. Move. Occupy. No dream is too big. No territory too untamed. Every place means every place.
"No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you." (Joshua 1:5)
That’s right Joshua. No man. Not a giant. Not a political leader, not a military power, not a shrewd strategist… no man. And not just for tomorrow or the next day… .but for all of the days of your life. I’m here. Permanently.
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." (Joshua 1:8)
That’s right Joshua. Camp on my Word. Set your mind, your heart and your soul on the things that I’ve communicated to you through my Word… not as a reference book, but as a guide for life.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)
That’s right Joshua. Strong. Courageous. Confident. Liberated. Wherever you go.
That’s right Dan. That baton is yours. It’s time to occupy the promises of God. It’s time to cross the river of doubt, of uncertainty… and take possession of what I have already given to you.
The Lord our God is strong and mighty. He has not lost His power to do more than I could ask or imagine.
God is stirring. Now, as then. God ignites the dream.
Be strong and courageous.
