This is War

Devour. To swallow up, destroy.

It’s a very short agenda. But don’t be fooled, it’s a focused agenda.

Your adversary the devil… ~ 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) is looking for every way, in every place, with whatever means, to destroy you.  He’s really, really ticked off. Grace, mercy, hope, forgiveness, love, selflessness, honor, and purity bring hatred to a boil in his resolve.

There isn’t a strategy he won’t use or a person he considers off limits. He’s evil, filled with hate, fixated on destruction and more insidious than overt.

He’s the enemy of your soul.  He entices with pleasure and power, and delivers pain and perversion.  He lost, and he’s not happy about it.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. ~ Eph 6:12 (ESV)

There is no compromise, no peace treaty, no common ground, no meeting of the minds, no “just getting along.” This is full scale, all out, “shock and awe,” battle.

So, full armor, and nothing less is required. There are plans on the drawing board, weapons in the storehouse, and allies at the beck and call. This is life and death.

In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world. ~ John 16:33 (The Message) The words of our captain confirm it. While the enemy still terrorizes, he doesn’t win.

Evil is no match.

But until the bell sounds, the battle rages, and with it, the carnage of unkept promises and broken trust, of secrets exposed, and lies lived. This is war… and the enemy, for all his disguises and pretenses, has one simple agenda.  To devour.

…be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. ~ Eph 6:10 (ESV)

Go at it alone… you’re lunch. That’s the agenda, the plan, the scheme of the enemy of your soul.

Yes indeed, this is war.
